解説

 

今回は、実機確認結果に基づく修正案作成を行ないます。

 

UI を日本語に翻訳したあと、日本語版ベータビルドを作成し、それを動作させて、文脈の中で翻訳をチェックする、というプロセスがあります。このプロセスを In-Context Review などといいます。言い換えると、「翻訳後の実機確認」です。

 

課題

 

以下、In-Context Review  結果の例として、7 件のエラー報告を示します。それぞれの画像で、英語版画面と日本語版画面を並べて、問題の箇所を赤で囲んであります。それを見て、Correction 欄に修正訳を、Comment 欄にコメントを書き込んでください。1 件目のみ、例として、すでに書き込んであります。残りの 6 件に取り組んでください。

 

コメントは日本語と英語の両方で書いてください。実務においては、コメントやクエリーは日本語でよい場合もありますが、英語で書くことができれば、必ずあなたの強みになります。

              "Installing" と "BeatIt Generator" は、別々のストリングであり、実行時に連結されるようです。結果としてできあがった「インストール中 BeatIt Generator」という訳は、意味をなしません。可能であれば、"Installing" と "BeatIt Generator" を別々に翻訳するのではなく "Installing BeatIt Generator" という1個のストリングとして翻訳できるように、ソフトウェアを修正してください。それが可能であれば Candidate A の訳を使用してください。それが不可能であれば、Candidate B を使用してください。これは、コロンをはさむ（"Installing" を "インストール:" と訳す）ことによって、２つのストリングの間の誤った文法関係を断ち切るものです。

 

Comment (英語):

              Looks like "Installing" and "BeatIt Generator" are two strings separate from each other, and are concatenated at runtime. Inevitably, they were translated separately and are concatenated together at runtime. The resulted translation doesn't make sense. Chopping up a sentence into pieces and concatenate them at runtime often results in nonsense translation. If possible, please re-structure the string so that "Installing" and "BeatIt Generator" can be translated together as one whole string. Then you can implement the Candidate A translation. If that is not possible and  "Installing" and "BeatIt Generator" have to be translated separately, then please use Candidate B. It is a compromise. The Candidate B translation uses a colon to sever the false grammatical relationship between the concatenated two translated strings. It is not the best translation (the best translation is Candidate A), but at least Candidate B is not misleading.
